Clay Massa has been a crucial part of Blessed Trinity’s success on the baseball diamond for the last four years.

The senior catcher/outfielder played an especially important role for the Titans during their spring break week trip to Las Vegas, Nev.

Massa came up with his best performances of the season for Blessed Trinity as it played a series of four games April 9 through 12 in Las Vegas, Nev. against some of the best teams in California – including 10th-ranked Hart and 20th-ranked West Ranch of Santa Clarita in the Los Angeles area – and perennial Nevada powerhouse Bishop Gorman of Las Vegas.

While Massa usually isn’t one of the top hitters for the Titans, Blessed Trinity coach Andy Harlin said he brings an invaluable contribution to the team in many other ways.

“Clay is the heart and soul of us, I think,” Harlin said. “He’s just a phenomenal kid. He’s always up on the railing. He’s always going after foul balls. He got a chance to play during spring break and he played incredible. He’ll fill in anywhere. He’s not going to have huge stats over the course of the year. He got a chance to play [in Las Vegas] and played great against some good competition.

“He never complains about anything. He’s as much of a team guy as there is.”
