Connor Thompson was virtually unbeatable during his outstanding four-year tennis career at Holy Innocents’.

The senior has finished his career with a 62-1 record – winning his last 38 matches in a row.

His last defeat came as a sophomore two years ago at the LaGrange Invitational – where he lost the third set 7-6 after holding a match point.

The 2014 season has been more of the same for Thompson, who has posted a perfect 16-0 record and hasn’t lost a single set at the No. 1 singles position.

While Holy Innocents’ was defeated by Mount Paran Christian 3-1 in the second round of the Class A private school state boys’ tennis playoffs last Thursday, Thompson provided the lone match victory for the Golden Bears with a 6-0, 6-1 win.

He helped get Holy Innocents’ off to a winning start in its first-round match, winning 6-3, 6-1 to lead the Golden Bears to a 4-0 victory over First Presbyterian Day April 25.

“I’ve been coaching tennis 30-plus years and I’ve never seen anyone strike a tennis ball as well as he does – period,” Holy Innocents’ boys’ tennis coach Dunn Neugebauer said. “He has as much raw talent as anyone I’ve ever coached.”
