McNabb scored the first goal in St. Pius’ 2-0 victory over Oconee County at Emory University.
“I got a concussion a month ago and this is my first game back,” McNabb said.
After nearly 65 minutes of scoreless action, McNabb was awarded a free kick. Behind a wall formed by his teammates, the versatile midfielder sent the ball past Oconee County goalkeeper Jeff Greenfield for a 1-0 lead.
“I was just trying to hit it low because I knew the keeper was tall and he would have trouble getting down,” McNabb said. “It went under the wall luckily and they jumped up.”
With just over six minutes remaining, Edmundo Robinson scored on a header to add insurance en route to the Golden Lions becoming back-to-back champions.
McNabb graduated with a 3.65 grade-point average and will attend Georgia but will not play soccer.
