In Forest Park’s opener, Simms rushed for 118 yards, and then against Morrow on Sept. 7, the junior had 108 yards on the ground and a touchdown.
“Last year, I was kind of timid,” Simms said. “I wouldn’t run the ball as hard as I could. I was more so juking and kind of scared to hit the hole. Now, I’m more aggressive, not afraid to hit the hole and starting to run behind my pads.”
“I think his confidence from a sophomore to a junior has really gone up where he’s not tentative at all,” Forest Park coach Don Williams said. “He’s using his blocking. He’s being smart. He’s using the sideline. He is a complete player right now and he’s still getting better.”
Morrow’s defense also got to see first hand how tough of a runner Simms was when he turned what appeared to be a loss of yardage into a 47-yard gain.
“He should have been stopped for a loss,” Williams said. “That was just all him. He shook one guy and ran out of another guy’s arms.”
Simms said he would like to play football at Miami.
