Fellowship Christian’s Roger Rickman is closing out his high school basketball career on a strong note so far.

The senior guard is averaging about 13 points a game and has played a key role the success of the Paladins, who are 6-3 overall and 2-1 in Region 6A.

Rickman scored a season-high 23 points in a 48-33 victory over 6A and north Fulton rival Mount Pisgah Christian Dec. 10 and had 21 points in a 49-46 loss to state powerhouse Whitefield Academy Dec. 6.

He also scored his 1,000th career point in the Paladins’ 38-28 loss to north Fulton rival Blessed Trinity Nov. 19.

Rickman is also a finalist for the Naismith Awards Flourish Scholarship, which is presented to five female and five male metro Atlanta student-athletes.

“He does what is necessary to help the team win,” Fellowship Christian coach Mark Rickman said. “He had a three-game stretch against Excel, Pisgah and Walker, where he was 10-for-11 from the three-point line – which is pretty good shooting at any level.”

Rickman is a four-year starter at Fellowship and was named the team MVP as a freshman.
