During Cambridge’s historic 41-32 football victory over Pope on Sept. 27, Bears’ quarterback Brian Moore had a game for the ages, throwing for 310 yards and two touchdowns in the win. He also proved to be a lethal threat on the ground as well, rushing for 115 yards and a score during the game.

The victory over Pope was only the second win in Cambridge history and the first time the second-year program has opened region play with a victory and won a home opener. The Bears’ received state-wide media coverage for the win and even named the Fox 5 Atlanta Team of the Week.

“Brian brings leadership to our team on a daily basis,” Cambridge head coach Craig Bennett said. “He does everything the right way and is the epitome of a student-athlete both on and off the field.”

For the season, Moore has rushed for 311 yards and three touchdowns, two of which came in the Bears’ 34-17 loss to Northview last week. He has also thrown four TD passes on the year.

Cambridge will return to action this Friday when it hosts Forsyth Central, hoping to build on the overall improvements of the program. “We’re better prepared both physically and mentally this year,” Bennett said. “Even though we started out 0-3, our games have been close and that has given our kids confidence that we didn’t have at this point last year.”
