RoswellNEXT didn’t exist during the last election cycle. The group of young professionals was formed just last year.

But its membership is intent on being an active part of the community and a candidates’ event during this municipal campaign season is right in line with its mission, according to board member and group co-founder Aaron Gravett, who organized a debate set for Tuesday.

“All six candidates have conformed they are attending,” he said.

The format will encourage give-and-take by the candidates. Each will answer three questions. The candidate’s opponent will be given time for rebuttal on each question and then the candidate will have a final few minutes to respond, Gravett said.

Questions for candidates can be submitted at the group’s website. “We might structure questions in a different manner but we’ll try to ask them all,” Gravett said.

The questions won’t be lightweight, but neither will they be designed to create controversy, he said. “They will be true to our vision for RoswellNEXT, which is to focus on progress in Roswell’s civic, social and economic development issues. Those will be the three pillars of the questions we ask.”

The debate is Tuesday at 7 p.m. at High Meadows School, 1055 Willeo Road, Roswell.
