“We recognized that there are so many contributions being made by professional women and not a forum or any type of an event in our footprint … that brought the community together to celebrate those accomplishments,” said Deborah Lanham, director of member services for the chamber.
The luncheon will be held at The Metropolitan Club in Alpharetta. Tickets are $35.
The guest speaker of the event will be Hala Moddelmog, president of Arby’s Restaurant group.
“I had a chance to meet Hala,” Lanham said. “She really struck a chord with me. I felt she was in touch as a leader … with the kinds of accomplishments and the types of challenges women face today. She’s such an encourager having blazed a trail for women because of where she’s at as a CEO of a large, recognized, national and global company.”
The chamber has organized a CEO roundtable pre-event from 11 to 11:45 a.m. where high-level executives will discuss challenges and issues unique to top-level management. Eventgoers will have the opportunity to network and meet Moddelmog before the luncheon begins at noon.
Lanham said there has already been much interest in the luncheon and she anticipates the event to sell out.
“I want every professional woman to come and feel as if she is being celebrated for her achievements professionally, from [women in] administrative roles all the way up to our CEOs,” she said.
“Everyone plays a part in the success of business. That’s key that women feel appreciated and that they’re being acknowledged for their hard work.”
The chamber is already planning for next year’s event. Lanham hopes the Women in Business luncheon turns into an annual occasion where companies and organizations recognize women’s achievements with different awards.
