Five-foot-6 outside midfielder Sydney David and 5-foot-8 goalkeeper Maslyn Greene each signed a commitment to the school of their choice. Both David and Greene are four-year starters.
David signed with Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, N.C.
“Syd had several schools interested in her and she’s chosen the one she feels offers her the greatest opportunities. Sydney has all the tools and talents to play in the Big South Conference on the [Division 1] level. She will excel,” said head coach Joel Sullivan.
Playing for Sullivan since her freshman year, Sullivan said David has always been a “big contributor to the Wolfpack” but has grown since she started.
“She’s matured as a player and person over the last four years. We depend on Sydney to take on a good amount of the responsibility as a go-to player on the field,” Sullivan said.
Sullivan described David as a “speedy, dangerous attacking player and hard worker.” He also said she is a player that is loved and who fellow teammates looked up to.
Greene signed to Mars Hill College in Mars Hill, N.C.
“I feel great about her choice. She will walk in and make an impact on that program; instant impact. Mars Hill is very fortunate to have an incoming freshman of Maslyn’s quality,” said Sullivan
Also under Sullivan since her freshman year, Sullivan said Greene has developed into a great player.
“Maslyn came in very good and is what I would now consider a great player. She’s worked hard on her own time with her goalkeeper trainer and developed into an outstanding talent,” said Sullivan.
Sullivan described Greene as a “courageous player” who comes through for her team when they truly need it.
“She is a strong competitor who we depend on to keep us in tight games and have the extraordinary moments you depend on great goalkeepers to win big games for your team,” Sullivan said.
