‘For the Birds’

An Artists’ Reception to celebrate the opening of the exhibit “For the Birds: Athos Menaboni & More” — Georgia’s Audubon and Other Artists Exploring Ornithological Motifs, is set for Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Cultural Arts Center, 8652 Campbellton St., Douglasville.

It is open to the public with free admission. The exhibit will be on display through June 28.

‘Touch a Truck’

County Government Day and Touch-a-Truck Experience is set for Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Arbor Place Mall Parking Lot between Sears and Rooms To Go.

Admission is free and open to the public.

Attendees can look around and through fire trucks, fire safety house, rescue units, Sheriff’s Department Mobile Command Center, mobile jail, HEAT cars, armored vehicles, DOT equipment and more. Exhibits and tents from county departments will be present. Donate used books to the library, adopt a pet from the Animal Shelter, play the Ducky Derby to benefit the Special Olympics/Therapeutic Recreation Program and more.

Big band on the Plaza

Spring Concerts on the Plaza featuring Atlanta Seventeen playing big band and swing is set for Saturday, from 7 to 9 p.m., at O’Neal Plaza, downtown Douglasville. Free and open to the public.

Kiwanis Pancake Day

Kiwanis Club Annual Pancake Day to benefit A Gift of Love food backpack program is set for Saturday, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., at 3870 Longview Drive next door to Dazzles Skating Rink. Cost is $5 per person for all you can eat.

Tickets are available from any Kiwanis Club member or at the door.

Community expo

The annual Business-to-Community Expo is set for Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Arbor Place Mall.

More than 50 local businesses will offer products and services including financial advice, energy savings, educational opportunities, remodeling, insurance, medical advice and more. Admission is free and open to the public.
