Blake Swafford, executive director of the Paulding County Industrial Business Authority, told authority members last week studio officials are in the process of planning the event to attract a variety of film industry officials who have heard of the studio but never traveled to Paulding County to see it, Swafford said.
“They are targeting certain people,” he said.
The studio is specifically seeking those responsible for film site selection for the event, Swafford said. They plan to wait until the weather gets better in late February or March, he said.
In action taken at the meeting, authority members elected Dallas Mayor Boyd Austin as the new chairman. He was nominated by authority member Mayor Doris Devey of Hiram.
Austin’s duties as chair will include presiding over the meetings, and signing checks and contracts on behalf of the authority, Swafford said.
Swafford reported construction of a water tank at the Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport is now complete, and has water in it, Swafford said. There is still the need for grass, fencing and tree planting around the tank, he said.
The authority also heard airport officials are negotiating with a Tennessee group on possible construction of a corporate hangar.
