Polls have closed in Douglas County for today’s election to fill two seats on the Douglasville City Council.

In the race for the council’s Ward 1 post, the incumbent, Larry Yockey, is being challenged by Jay Mark Smith.

For the council’s Ward 2, Post 1 race, incumbent Dennis McLain faces Mike Miller.

Douglas County Communications Director Wes Tallen did not have the exact number of votes cast when the polls closed but said voting had been slow throughout the day
