The Center for Puppetry Arts in Midtown will present “Squirrel Stole My Underpants: A Poignantly Silly Adventure Tale for Families” Tuesday through June 8.

The play is written by Bonnie Duncan of Boston. In it, Sylvie is sent to the backyard to hang up the laundry. The moment her back is turned, a mischievous squirrel runs off with her favorite piece of clothing. As Sylvie gives chase, an entire world emerges from her laundry basket and curious characters show her the way through mysterious lands. Will our lonely heroine rescue her underpants and discover the magic within her? Join us on this adventure to find out.

This production is recommended for ages 3 and up. Tickets for patrons 2 and older are $9.25 for members) and $16.50 for nonmembers. They include the performance, museum admission, and the Create-A-Puppet Workshop (or To-Go Kit). At the workshop attendees can create their own Squirmy Squirrel hand puppet. The workshop can also be purchased separately for $5.75.

The all-inclusive ticket also admits patrons to the center’s museum. Explore its permanent museum exhibit “Puppets: The Power of Wonder,” as well as the newest special exhibit “Cinderella’s Tightrope: Adapted Childhood Tales.” There also is a display detailing the center’s upcoming museum expansion to house the definitive Jim Henson collection.
