Restaurant Week showcases Roswell’s cuisine

With an explosion of quality eateries opening in the Canton Street area of Roswell in the past few years, the city has become a dining Mecca even for those who live outside of north Fulton.

The plethora of choices for an enjoyable meal can sometimes be dizzying. But there is a way to get an idea of what many local establishments have to offer without breaking the bank.

During the upcoming Roswell Restaurant Week Jan. 19 through Jan. 27, diners can try specials at several different eateries in the historic district.

Participating restaurants include Plum Café, Table & Main, Roux, Ceviche, Party Chic, Oak Street Café, El Zarape, Pastis, Roswell Tap, Lucky’s Burger, Sugo, Slate, Fickle Pickle, NINE, Salt, Little Alley Steak, Pure Taqueria and Coldbrew’s.

This is the second year for this event, which is organized by the Historic Roswell Merchants Association.

“The inaugural event was well received and successful based upon the number of repeat participants and new participants. Feedback about tailoring the specials to meet the personalities of restaurants was heard and changes implemented into this year’s event,” said Sally Johnson, association spokesperson.

“Also, more communication of restaurant specials will be made via the Roswell Restaurant Week Facebook page so that our guests will know what to expect at each restaurant.”

Lori Lawson of Sugo in Old Clock Tower Place on Atlanta Street said the restaurant is having a three-course special for the week.

“It is prix fixe for $25 and there is a choice of appetizer, main and dessert,” she said.

“We have a new young chef who graduated at the top of his class at Cordon Bleu. He is a real rising star.”

Starters for the special will be bacon-wrapped dates, spanakopita or meatballs Sugo. On the list of entrees are black truffle pasta, chicken Francais and Federico’s braciole, pork tenderloin stuffed with Italian sausage, dates and caramelized onions.

The nine-day promotional Roswell Restaurant Week event is timed so that restaurants get a boost in a normally less busy time of the year for them, Johnson said.
