The Sandy Springs Police Department is investigating the Dec. 28 death of 36-year-old Eric Chepkuto, who was found shot at his residence in the 8100 block of Colquitt Road, the Circa 400 apartments, it announced Tuesday in a news release.

Chepkuto was found in the couple’s bedroom just after 8 a.m. by his wife who returned home from work. He died of a gunshot wound to the head. No suspects have yet been identified in the shooting. Detectives are still interviewing a number of people connected to the couple and awaiting results from forensics tests on evidence taken from the scene.

In an emailed response to questions about the investigation, Capt. Steve Rose, a Sandy Springs Police spokesman, said police dispatched the case as a suicide.

However, "Once they got there, they decided it was homicide fueled by the fact that we found no gun but did find two shell casings," Rose said.
