Sandy Springs workshop participants rated photos of shops, homes and streets today, getting closer to an actual image of how a proposed city center will look.

About 55 residents and business owners met at the Hitson Center to view 114 images, ranking them on positive and negative scales then discussing their findings in small groups.

The attendees included representatives from the Sandy Springs City Council, the city charter commission, the Watershed Alliance of Sandy Springs, Heritage Sandy Springs, the city board of appeals and the Sandy Springs Council of Neighborhoods.

The process, called a visual preference survey, will help guide updated zoning regulations within the proposed redevelopment area surrounding Roswell Road between Abernathy Road and Interstate 285.

The results will be analyzed by Boston-based city planning firm Goody Clancy and posted to the city center website within two weeks.

Following the posting, more public meetings will be held regarding transportation options for the area.

A refined draft master plan will be presented to the city council in November, with a final plan ready for a vote in December.

What’s next?

-Survey results will be posted within two weeks

-More public meetings will be held later this month
