The community is invited to help decorate the Citizens’ Christmas Tree at the Douglas County Courthouse on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m., said Wes Tallon, director of communications and community relations for Douglas County government.
Participants may bring their own garland or ornament, or may purchase a ribbon for $1 from the Pilot Club to tie on the tree.
The lighting of the Citizens’ Christmas Tree will be held at the Douglas County Courthouse the following evening, on Monday from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
There will be hot chocolate, cookies and fellowship followed by the lighting of the tree and arrival of Santa, with musical performances by the Arbor Station Elementary School chorus and the Lithia Springs First Baptist Church hand bells.

The streets of downtown Douglasville will be all aglow with the sights and sounds of Christmas as the city kicks off the holiday season with the Magic on Main Street Christmas parade and tree lighting on Dec. 7.
The event kicks off with the parade at 6:30 p.m. on Church Street. Following the parade, the fun continues at 7:15 p.m. on O’Neal Plaza with caroling, hot chocolate and candy canes.
Children will have the opportunity to visit and take a photo with Santa Claus beginning at 7:30 p.m.
The festivities will conclude at 8:15 p.m. with the lighting of the Christmas tree.
“Douglasville’s Magic on Main Street Christmas Parade and tree Lighting is a wonderful holiday event for the whole family,” said Marcia Hampton, community and downtown services director. “Come on out and bring your family and friends to watch this traditional parade light up the night.”
