Sharpie, the No. 1 writing brand in North America and a product of Sandy Springs-based Newell Rubbermaid, is coming to Sandy Springs, bringing more than 60 jobs in marketing and other functions, the company announced Tuesday.

Sharpie’s unique marketing campaigns have inspired creative expression for nearly 50 years. Fans — from teens to professional artists — uncap their creativity on original art projects and reimagine everything from sports cars and motorcycles to coffee cups, backpacks, purses and sneakers.

Sharpie, which had been based in Oakbrook, Ill., will be joined by other writing brands Paper Mate, Expo and Prismacolor.

Newell Rubbermaid is making room for Sharpie in a newly designed marketing floor at its headquarters. The transition begins immediately and will be complete by year’s end.

The arrival of Sharpie and its related products establishes Atlanta as Newell Rubbermaid’s consumer marketing hub, bringing together the majority of its consumer marketing teams under one roof.
