The district is partnering with the Henry County Master Gardeners during this annual event.
Four locations will be giving away seedlings — The USDA Service Center, 333 Phillips Drive, McDonough; Heritage Par, 101 Lake Dow Road, McDonough; Locust Grove Municipal Building, 3644 Georgia 42, Locust Grove; and Stockbridge City Hall, 4640 N. Henry Blvd., Stockbridge.
The district has selected Catalpa, Redbud and River Birch seedlings for this year’s giveaway. Due to the climate, Georgia celebrates Arbor Day on the third Friday in February each year, even though national Arbor Day is celebrated on the last Friday in April.
The theme for this year’s celebration is “Plant Your Legacy.”
“We’re not only leaving a legacy for future generations, but planting these trees will add to the health and beauty of our community, making a difference today, as well,” Henry County Soil and Water Conservation District Chairman David Almand said.
