Douglas County District 4 Commissioner Ann Jones Guider and District 3 Commissioner Mike Mulcare will host town hall meetings at two different locations Saturday.

Guilder will host a town hall meeting from 10 a.m. to noon in the Community Room of the Dog River Library at 6100 Ga. Hwy. 5.

Mulcare will host a town hall meeting from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church, 4283 Chapel Hill Road.

Both were set up to discuss the prospective property tax millage rate, bond issues proposed for the November ballot and other issues of concern to residents.

All Douglas County residents, regardless of where they live, are welcome to attend and participate in the meetings.

The board of commissioners is required to determine its property tax millage rate on or before July 31 of each year. The prospective rate increase to be considered has been announced to be 2.951 mils, and is due to the continuing drop in property tax values.

In addition, the board of commissioners is considering putting bond issues on the November ballot for voter consideration for the following issues: (1) radio system for the sheriff’s department; (2) parks and recreation improvements; (3) road improvements; and (4) fire department equipment.
