Wherever and whatever.

That pretty much sums up Union Grove hoops standout Treva Hickey’s on-court job description.

“She’s one of those players who’ll do whatever you ask of her,” said Lady Wolverines coach Dock Gammon. “She’ll play post and guard for us at different times … she basically does it all.”

Judging by the junior’s level of production — she’s nearly averaging a double-double — Hickey seems to be handling her heavy workload just fine.

Her steadying presence has been key in Union Grove’s fight to stay above water this season. The Lady Wolverines (7-8 overall) will, no doubt, be leaning heavily on Hickey to develop and flourish even more as the second half of the season progresses.

“She’s a worker … a coach’s dream,” said Gammon of Hickey, who averages 14 points and nine rebounds per contest.

Few could argue that the Lady Wolverines, even with Hickey’s heroics, has been something of an enigma thus far in their 2012-13 campaign.

Consider a pair of their tilts with two opponents as evidence: Union Grove avenged a 10-point loss in late November at Pike County, upending the Lady Pirates 46-39 a few weeks later. A 12-point defeat at the hands of Class 4-A powerhouse Woodland ballooned to 31 in last week’s rematch.

Hickey and company will have to shake off inconsistency — a regular obstacle for teams on the rise — to make some serious noise this season.

Senior guard Ashlyn Fluker headlines a solid supporting cast for the Lady Wolverines. Sophomore guard Madison Moore and junior backcourt mate Aly Bala have also had their moments to shine this season.

Look for Hickey to continue doing her part to keep the ball rolling.

Union Grove upcoming games:

 (H) Mundy’s Mill, Friday at 6 p.m.

 (H) Forest Park, Jan. 15

 at Ola, Jan. 18

 (H) Mt. Zion, Jan. 19.
