In a news release, the Vinings Historic Preservation Society earlier this month announced it will host its annual Ice Cream Social event Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Old Pavilion, 3057 Paces Mill Road.

The society is a nonprofit whose mission is to preserve Vinings’ historic sites.

The event will salute National Ice Cream Day, and Cold Stone Creamery will continue its tradition of sponsoring the event by donating ice cream and toppings.

“I am so pleased to continue Cold Stone’s support of this very popular community event,” said Blake Rogers, owner of Cold Stone Creamery’s Vinings location. “We look forward to a day of ice cream and family fun with all our Vinings neighbors.”

The event will also include the face painter from St. Angelo’s Pizza, a display of vintage cars and firemen and a fire engine from Cobb County Fire Station No. 5 in Vinings. The Rotary Club of Vinings will return to serve up popcorn, and Fidelity Bank will continue their tradition of passing out their famous home-baked cookies. Vinings resident Dean Morris is expected to again bring his famous hot fudge sauce.

Admission is free to society members and children under 12. Admission for non-society members over 12 is $4. Residents are asked to park across the street in the Piedmont Medical and Fidelity parking lot.
