Despite this weekend’s inclement weather, three local events are still taking place:

o Derby Day, the annual fundraiser for Shepherd Center, the Buckhead hospital for patients with catastrophic back, neck and brain injuries, will go on, rain or shine, Laura Benson, an event spokeswoman, wrote in an email Saturday morning. The event begins at 2 p.m. and takes place at the Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers, with shuttle service from Securities Centre, 3490 and 3500 Piedmont Road in Buckhead.

o The triPATHlon, the triathlon hosted Sunday starting at 7:30 a.m. by the PATH Foundation, the Chastain Park Conservancy and the Chastain Park Athletic Club, will go on, rain or shine, athletic club board secretary Jennifer Klein said in a phone interview Saturday afternoon. However, Klein said, if there is lightning Sunday, the event would be postponed. The park is located at 235 W. Wieuca Road in Buckhead.

o The Sandy Springs Cycling Challenge and Taste of Sandy Springs, set for Sunday beginning at 7:30 a.m., will take place, rain or shine, District 2 Sandy Springs City Councilwoman Dianne Fries, the event chair, said in a phone interview Saturday. The events will take place near Heritage Sandy Springs, 6110 Bluestone Road.
