Known as the home of one of the oldest covered bridges in the state, Euharlee hopes to earn a place on the map as a destination stop for families in and around Bartow County with the Covered Bridge Que rolling into town at Frankie Harris Park June 16.

It is the third annual ‘Que’ and with a barbecue cook off, festival and car, truck and motorcycle show, the event is sure to be a draw for all ages, said Samantha Berry, festival organizer for the Covered Bridge ‘Que sponsored by Budweiser.

“You have something here for everyone in a beautiful hometown atmosphere in a gorgeous park,” said Berry.

Berry said more than 30 teams have entered the barbecue competition, which is a sanctioned competition for the Kansas City Barbeque Society. It also is a Georgia Barbeque Championship Series event, with competitors from around the state, Tennessee, Alabama, Louisiana, Florida and North Carolina.

“This is the only professional barbecue competition in Bartow County,” Berry said.

Don Adams, head of a local barbeque cooking team, Georgia Boys BBQ Team, will be among the teams competing for top honors at the cook-off.

Adams, who has been competing since 2009 and has won numerous awards said there is a sense of camaraderie for the teams competing in spite of the competitive atmosphere.

“We’re all family when we’re not cooking,” Adams said.

And while the competition is going on, there will be other family friendly activities, craft vendors and live music to entertain the crowd throughout the day.

There also will be food vendors on site.

There will be a kid’s area with a petting zoo, pony rides, crafts and a motorized train.

The Covered Bridge ‘Que Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show sponsored by Styles Collision and Bullet Liner of Cartersville will feature nearly 130 cars, trucks and motorcycles. Xtreme Car Show organizes the car show, which is the third in a series of seven for the year, Berry said. Proceeds car show benefit BackPack Buddies.

Festivities begin at 10 a.m. Capping off the day of entertainment will be Babe’s Bayou from Adairsville who will perform in the afternoon.

Admission to the festival and car show is free however some activities require a small fee, Berry said.

Berry said the Covered Bridge ‘Que is a perfect way to enjoy a fun-filled summer day in a hidden treasure right here in your own backyard.
