Churches across Paulding and Douglas Counties offer summer vacation Bible schools for young children throughout the months of June and July.

The Church at Chapelhill’s vacation Bible school is set for July 24 through 27 at 6 p.m.

Pastor Michael Gaddis said the theme for this year’s school is “Once Upon a Time: Snow Brite and the Seven Morphs.”

Gaddis said the theme teaches kids ages 5 to 11 about seven of the nine fruits of the spirit as stated in the Bible’s Book of Galatians.

“The dwarfs are the fruits of the spirit,” said Gaddis. “It will also be teaching them not to be selfish like the queen, and temptation comes in with Snow White eating the apple.”

Gaddis said about 650 children attended last year’s vacation Bible school, with 250 volunteers.

This year, the church hopes to have 700 students and 275 volunteers.

Dallas church New Canaan Baptist’s vacation Bible school theme this year is Amazing Wonders Aviation Vacation Bible School.

New Canaan’s Bible school will take place June 18 through the 22 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

According to pastor Jason Loudermilk, the school will teach children ages 3 through the sixth grade about the different world wonders and their relationship with God.

There will also be an adult Bible study class for parents and guardians of students at the same time.

Parents can pre-register their children for the school online at www.newcanaanbc.org.

Loudermilk said the school gives children a different and fun activity for summer, while also giving them a religious education.

“It’s exciting to be able to get together with other kids and sing and learn about our world and how God created it,” he said. “It also gives them something to do. Get out and meet other kids and be social.”
