Gas South, Georgia’s fastest growing natural gas provider since 2008, is now providing discounted rates on natural gas service to DeKalb County residents and businesses.

Home to more than 690,000 residents, DeKalb is the first county to establish this partnership with Gas South. As a community energy provider, Gas South has similar programs with electric membership corporations and municipalities across Georgia and has helped thousands of customers save more than $3 million to date.

DeKalb County has partnered with Gas South to offer a discount of two cents per therm on all standard rates when residents sign up for service or register their existing Gas South accounts. The discount continues for as long as they remain Gas South customers. Gas South also offers a discount on the connection fee for DeKalb residents looking to establish a new account. Special, customized rates also are available from Gas South for businesses and large commercial customers in DeKalb County.

“I am thrilled that Gas South now offers discounted rates to my fellow DeKalb County residents,” said Kevin Greiner, CEO of Gas South. “In this current economic climate, any savings that can help residents, particularly senior citizens and families living on a fixed income, is beneficial to the community.”

The program assists DeKalb residents and businesses save on their gas bills, and will also benefit the county. For each resident and business that receives service from the company, DeKalb County will receive funding from Gas South.

“It is great to see a local Georgia company working with the community to provide reduced rates for its customers,” said Burrell Ellis, CEO of DeKalb County. “DeKalb residents and businesses are grateful for this discount and we appreciate the support from Gas South.”

Commissioner Larry Johnson, presiding officer of the Board of Commissioners stated, “Gas South has a proven track record of performance with these programs in terms of delivering real value to residents. We are confident that this program will produce benefits for not only county residents but for the County at-large from the community support.”

Gas South has formed marketing relationships with cities across Georgia to offer preferred natural gas rates. Gas South has similar programs in Acworth, College Park, Fairburn, Kennesaw, Marietta, Norcross, Roswell, Sandy Springs, Union City and Woodstock.
