Aubrie Ella Puckett, daughter of Heather and Brandon Puckett, is one of 10 finalists selected from thousands of entries in the Little Miss Coppertone Contest. Those wanting to vote in the contest must do so by tonight at https://www.facebook.com/coppertone/app_432377713445313.
Heather Puckett said she decided to enter Aubrie in the contest in May after seeing the contest on the Facebook social networking site and noticing her friends were entering their daughters.
“She is so excited,” she said. “She was introducing herself as Miss Coppertone.”
A panel of judges, including celebrity mother Alison Sweeney, selected Aubrie as a finalist “representing the energetic and optimistic spirit of Little Miss Coppertone,” according to Coppertone spokesperson Lindsey Steinseifer in an e-mail.
Mrs. Puckett said she learned Aubrie was a finalist in late June. Coppertone produces a variety of sun protection products. The Little Miss Coppertone character was first introduced in 1953 and “has been a symbol of family sun protection for decades.”
“The brand continues this tradition by highlighting the importance of sun safety in its search for the next little girl,” Steinseifer stated.
The winner, who will be announced by next week, will receive a seven-day, six-night family vacation and will be featured in a 2013 print ad, Steinseifer said.
In her answers, Aubrie said she likes Daytona Beach, Fla., but wants to go to Hawaii if she wins.
Voters only have until Thursday, July 26, at midnight to make their choice online on Coppertone’s Facebook page. Aubrie’s answers to a series of questions are included on the voting site.
Mrs. Puckett said, even if Aubrie does not win, the contest “was still fun.”
“She’s a beautiful little girl,” she said.
