In a news release, Atlanta Public Schools Friday announced its Back to School community festival will take place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at M. Agnes Jones Elementary School, 1040 Fair St. in Atlanta. The event will include health screenings, fresh produce, a school supplies giveaway and more.

The first day of classes for the 2012-13 academic year for most APS students is Aug. 6. The purpose of the event is to prepare students, parents and the community for the new school year by reinforcing good health, exercise, healthy eating tips and providing participants with school supplies and informational materials.
