After a pair of stellar seasons in Class AAAA saw Chattahoochee claim a pair of region championships and a state title, it’s on to bigger and better things this fall at the ‘Hooch.

Slated to play in region 6AAAAAA alongside a number of local rivals for the next two years, Chattahoochee head coach Terry Crowder said his team couldn’t be more excited to take on their new competition.

“We’re excited about moving up and taking on these bigger schools,” said Crowder, who is starting his ninth season as the Chattahoochee head coach.

“It’s going to be fun for our kids, our student body, and our fans to play these local teams and not have to travel more than 10 or 15 minutes each Friday Night.”

In 6AAAAAA Chattahoochee will play a full region schedule against county-foes Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Centennial and a quartet of Forsyth County programs — West Forsyth, South Forsyth, North Forsyth and Lambert.

Of their new competition all but two schools were state playoff teams a year ago, making for what could be one of the deepest regions in the state.

“It’s going to be a great challenge, there are a lot of teams with a shot to win this region and that is our goal here too, we’re really looking forward to it.”

The Cougars will take their shot at a third straight region crown with an offense that returns eight starters from a unit that averaged 34 points per game a season ago.

Senior quarterback Travis Marshall returns to head up Crowder’s spread offense with the aid of ‘Hooch’s dynamic duo of Chase Nelson and C.J. Leggett at running back.

“We’re going to stay aggressive, be fast-paced and run our no-huddle,” said Crowder.

Chattahoochee will open their season in the Georgia Dome, Aug. 25 against Kell High School.

Schedule:

8-25 Kell (Ga. Dome)

8-31 Forest Park

9-14 @Douglas County

9-21 @North Forsyth

9-28 Johns Creek

10-12 @South Forsyth

10-19 @Alpharetta

10-26 West Forsyth

11-2 Lambert

11-8 @Centennial
