The city of Hapeville will host its annual Hapeville Happy Days event Sept. 14 and 15.

The first evening of the event will kick-off the celebration with a concert from 7 to 11 p.m.

Featured acts will be local musicians.

On Sept. 15, the day will begin with a festival at 10 a.m. at Jess Lucas Park.

Both the concert and festival are free to all residents.

“We were chartered 121 years ago so it’s two-day celebration,” said Allie O’Brien, Main Street and marketing manager. “It’s a great way to showcase the city’s facilities and meeting place for residents.”

O’Brien said the festival, which is the third weekend of September each year, often acts as a date to schedule school reunions around, as many will attend for the sole purpose of connecting with former classmates.

Which is why, O’Brien said, local musicians were pulled for the concert on Sept. 14 — to forge a link between the past and present.

Food vendors will be present at the concert, including representation from local restaurants.

The second day of the celebration will begin with a 10 a.m. parade.

“The parade was organized by a community volunteer, Norma Shaw,” said O’Brien. “For this year, she has done a veteran’s float and incorporated horses. Many of our local civic organizations and businesses will be represented in the parade as well.”

Jess Lucas Park is at 680 S. Central Ave in Hapeville.
