The Dallas Martin Band will perform at the Dallas Theater in October as part of their prize for winning the Battle of the Bands contest in April.

The band beat out three other local bands to take the title of Dallas’ best band at a Relay for Life fundraiser April 28.

The upcoming Oct. 13 concert at the Dallas Theater also will benefit Relay for Life. Half of the ticket price will go to Relay for Life, and half will go to the band.

Showtime is 8 p.m., and tickets cost $13. Tickets can be purchased on the theater’s website: www.dallastheater-civiccenter.com.

“We’re hoping to pack it out,” said lead singer Dallas Martin.

Since winning the competition, Martin said the band has had some exciting changes including a new bass player and the spot as house band at Electric Cowboy nightclub in Kennesaw.

Jake Kassars, of Powder Springs, plays lead guitar. Ben Gallimore, also of Powder Springs, is on the drums. New bass player Trey Williams and Martin are both from Dallas.

The band plays every Wednesday night for Ladies’ Night at the country dance club. The band and Ladies’ Night is promoted on radio stations 94.9 The Bull and Kicks 101.5.

“We’re playing three and four shows a week,” Martin said. “We’ve picked up some new sponsorships, and we’re working on sponsorships from Bud Light and Jack Daniels now.”

Martin said the band regularly plays at Electric Cowboy, Ga. 120 Tavern and Dixie Tavern in Marietta, and Bootleggers in Columbus.

The band’s schedule can be found on its website: www.dallasmartinband.com, as well as its Facebook page and ReverbNation page.

“We’re trying to talk record deals, but nothing’s happening yet,” Martin said.

The young band has been playing together since 2010, and many of the members are from Paulding County, with the rest from the west Georgia area.

Martin said he believed winning the Battle of the Bands competition may have helped get the band’s name out.

“It might have helped on the publicity side of things in town,” he said.
