The city of Fairburn will host its third annual fall festival on Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the downtown area.

Festival festivities will concentrate off West Broad Street at the intersection of Highway 29 and 92, kicking off with a parade at 9:30 a.m.

Fairburn’s fall festival is not a new notion but instead was retooled from an older event once held in the city.

“Previously, there was a festival in Fairburn that was done by the historical society by the courthouse,” said Ellen Samuels, festival chair. “This is a change because it was called the Old Campbell County Homecoming.”

Samuels said the city took the event over three years ago when the historical society was no longer able to continue their event.

The fall festival is free for all residents to attend and will feature food—including Mexican and Creole-style dishes, a children’s activity area and a marketplace with items such as lotion, jewelry, handbags and leather goods.

Live music will also be at the festival with featured artists John King, Maria Burrell and Group, Veronika Jackson and Class Act.

Each musical act varies in genre including country, blues, inspiration, folk and rhythm and blues.

Samuels said she is certain of what the impact of the event has been.

“I think it has continued to let people know that Fairburn is here,” she said. “We are growing. It gives people a chance to see what the city looks like, what we are doing and brings visitors into our city, one of the goals of the mayor.”
