A key player in these wins was junior second base, Tracelyn “Nikki” Miller.
“Lately I feel like I have been seeing the ball well,” said Miller.
Miller may have seen the ball well and scored several runs for her team, but her contribution to the team stretches to the defensive side of the ball as well.
Head softball coach Zackary Graham said, “She has been outstanding the last four games. She has had seven hits, one home run and is responsible for seven runs scored.”
“Defensively she is very solid and our pitching staff is lucky to have her behind them,” Graham said.
With only two seniors on the team, Miller has stepped up into a leadership role on her team, helping to motivate her teammates.
“I feel like I’m one of the leaders because I try to keep everyone up and bring forth their best. I just put forth the effort and have been a good role model for the younger players,” Miller said.
Graham agreed and said, “Nikki is stepping forward as our team leader. She loves to win. She is a great teammate and team leader.”
Only being a junior, Miller said she does not have her eyes set on any school yet, but she does plan to return to the team next year and hopefully get a scholarship to play ball at the collegiate level.
“Thank God I have her for another year,” Graham said.
