In a news release, the office of District 6 U.S. Rep. Tom Price, M.D., R-Roswell, announced Wednesday he received the National Federation of Independent Business Guardian of Small Business award. The organization awarded Price a score of 100 percent for his support of small businesses, including measures to expand domestic energy, repeal President Barack Obama’s health care law, alleviate regulatory burdens on businesses, protect the “right to work” and rein in federal spending. Price represents Sandy Springs and Vinings.

“Small business is the foundation of the American economy, employing nearly 60 percent of workers today. Congress has a responsibility to remove existing impediments to job creation and create policies that encourage small businesses to grow. What’s good for small businesses is good for America,” Price said in a statement. “The National Federation of Independent Business does the important work of representing America’s job creators during a time when they face an uncertain future, and I am grateful for this recognition. House Republicans will continue our efforts to empower small businesses to do what they do best: grow our economy and create jobs.”

The federation is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization established in 1943 to “promote and protect the right of [its] members to own, operate and grow their businesses.” It has a membership of 350,000, with its average member employing 10 workers and reporting gross sales of about $500,000 annually.
