Through four games this season, Chattahoochee’s defensive and special teams units have forced 13 turnovers and scored six touchdowns.

No player has been more important to those numbers than Dwayne Bartholomew, a senior that has been a big-play machine through the early parts of the 2012 season.

“He is sort of a hybrid between outside linebacker and safety and really versatile because of his speed,” said Chattahoochee head coach Terry Crowder. “He’s a guy that we use to rush the passer and drop into coverage and he has made a ton of plays for us this year in that role.”

Bartholomew has 18 tackles on the season, two interceptions, two fumble recoveries and has blocked two kicks.

His blocked punt against Forrest Park in week two led to O.J. Thompson’s recovery and ensuing return for a touchdown. Bartholomew had a 75-yard interception return for a touchdown that sealed a win against Douglas County and a week ago he forced a fumble and had a pick in the Cougars 47-20 win against North Forsyth.

“We watch him sometimes and are just amazed,” said the Chattahoochee coach of the 5-foot-10, 180 pound senior. “He has great athleticism; great natural instincts and he can come up and lay the boot on you too.”
