Hampton Main Street Director Candy Franklin said the event usually showcases about eight homes, and this year, not enough people volunteered to have their homes as part of the tour.
“It’s something we start in May, and we were starting to get people who were interested,” she said. “We only had four people interested in wanting to have their houses in the tour. By the end of July, two of them backed out.”
Franklin said right now the hope is if the tour only takes place every other year, it will generate more interest in homeowners to be part of the tour.
Many other events and activities are slated for this fall in Hampton, including a scarecrow building contest, an Oct. 13 chili cook-off and also on Oct. 13, the First Berea Cemetery Tour.
