Riding a three-game winning streak for the first time in school history, the St. Francis Knights are getting meaningful contributions from players all over the field.

Many of those contributions are coming from Nathan Waller, a sophomore that had made big plays on offense, defense and special teams this season.

“Nathan is a guy that is one the field 95 percent of the time and a guy we can rely on to give it his all every play,” said St. Francis coach Brennen Booth. “He’s a big play guy on offense at receiver, and as our strongside linebacker he has really flourished at playing the run and getting to the quarterback.”

Waller, who measures out at 6-foot-2 180 pounds, has 12 catches for 369 yards (30.1 yards per catch) and five touchdowns on offense. His heroics this season include a 53-yard score in the Knights’ 23-0 win over Hebron Christian and a 70-yard score last week in their 22-21 win over Baconton.

On defense the sophomore has 20 tackles, 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble this season.

“Not only is he a good athlete, but Nathan is a great student as well,” said Booth, pointing to his 4.0 grade point average and involvement in a number of extracurricular activities. “He has become a good leader on the field and is such a positive part of our student body.

“He exemplifies what you want in a student-athlete."
