Cooler temperatures, football and eventually earth-bound multi-colored leaves are not all that signify the fall season.

A host of autumn-themed events are on tap across DeKalb County in the coming weeks — ranging from kinetic celebrations of the arts to traditional Halloween flight-or-fright fare.

The DeKalb Neighbor has compiled a list of upcoming events for readers to check out at their leisure.

AutumnFest

The Avondale Arts Alliance will hold AutumnFest, its annual arts and music festival Saturday and Sunday.

The festival takes place in the space across from Avondale Estates City Hall in the city’s downtown area. The event will feature live music and entertainment, including the bands Adron, Pink Pompeii and Kodac Harrison and The Head. The children’s area will see the return of the Reptile Wagon, a mobile reptile zoo featuring the likes of cobras and alligators.

Admission is free.

Pumpkin Festival

Stone Mountain Park’s annual Pumpkin Festival runs through Oct. 28.

Festivities — held Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays — include the “Mayor’s Rockin’ Costume Party,” a family scavenger hunt, the Pumpkinpalooza live game show, a pie eating contest, crafts, storytelling, pumpkin patch and fall decorations.

‘Southern Ghosts’

ART Station Contemporary Arts Center’s presentation of the 27th annual “A Tour of Southern Ghosts” at Stone Mountain Park runs through Oct. 28.

Visitors are invited to go on an evening adventure to the Antebellum Plantation for a tour with ghosts. The tour, held Thursdays through Sundays, features fun and spooky ghost stories from the Antebellum South.

Ghostly Halloween Party

The Kidgits Club will hold its Ghostly Halloween Party at Northlake Mall Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m. Radio Disney will host the event, billed as an evening of frightening fun. The night will feature a costume parade, games and trick-or-treating at participating stores. Children age 12 and under are permitted to wear masks.
