Incumbent Albers said his main priority should he be elected would be job creation.
“The economy and jobs are the most important issue for Georgia followed by education and transportation,” he said. “The reduction and elimination of the Georgia income tax is paramount to job creation combined with removing unnecessary regulations. We need more parental involvement in education, technology and options to assure one size does not fit all.”
Albers also took a stand against the T-SPLOST that was voted down in July, and he said he wants to present his Plan B.
“Everyone can agree that Metro Atlanta needs improvements to its infrastructure, but doing so at the expense of taxpayers is not the solution,” he said.
Gaining the public’s trust, making sure fees collected by the state go to the proper places and having a transportation infrastructure managed by experienced professionals are all part of the plan.
Challenger Akhtar Sadiq could not be reached for comment, but the economy and education are his top priorities according to his website.
Sadiq has said his business knowledge would be an asset to the state Senate.
“I’m an accountant business consultant,” he said in an earlier interview with the Neighbor. “I have extensive experience as far as my background is concerned.”
In addition to his business experience, Sadiq has been an ambassador for the Cobb Chamber of Commerce, helped and supported small businesses and entrepreneurs and helped Georgia Tech students prepare for foreign exchange programs.
