The bearded jolly fellow will be at the Bartow History Museum for the second annual Old-Fashioned Christmas Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and adults and children of all ages will have an opportunity to visit with him and have their picture taken.
Bartow History Museum’s Manager of Program, Charity Chastain said the event was well received last year and the hope is this year’s event will be just as popular.
“[The public responded] very well, we almost sold out on our very first year [last year] and we are filling up quickly this year,” Chastain said. “Christmas crafts and story time were a huge hit and everyone loved seeing the children making Christmas related crafts to give as gifts during the holiday season.”
Photography is provided by Louis Tonsmeire Studio and photo packages range from $25 to $50.
Guests are admitted to this event, which is sponsored by Fleetwood Security, by reservation only. Please call Chastain to reserve your visit.
All proceeds benefit the Bartow History Museum.
One of the great holiday traditions is posing with Santa for a holiday picture and Chastain said Santa’s visit this weekend is a great chance to have your photos made early so you aren’t in a rush or waiting in a long line.
In addition to an opportunity for photos with Santa, guests will be treated to Christmas stories and crafts and other activities. The museum’s permanent exhibits also will reflect Christmas decor from various times in history.
Chastain said it is a great way to usher in the holiday season.
“It gets children and adults in the holiday spirit as we move into the Thanksgiving holiday and it is never too early to remind children that Santa is watching to see who’s naughty and who’s nice,” Chastain said. “It also gives children an opportunity to make Christmas crafts that they may want to give out at Thanksgiving or save as a Christmas present.”
