He has certainly made up for lost time during the Golden Lions’ 2012 campaign.
The senior signal caller has amassed over 1,100 yards of total offense en route to guiding St. Pius to Region 6-AAA title and playoff berth.
“Jack has had a tremendous year for us as a leader on this team, said Golden Lions coach Paul Standard. “He’s led us in a first-class manner running our option offense.
“He’s played in some big games for us and has done a great job.”
Spear’s double-threat skill set has kept a fair share of opposing defenders and coaches off balance all season.
Further proof of the respect he’s earned with his stellar play lies in Spears’ earning All-Region honors. Not bad for a guy who just spent his first full season behind center.
For all his athleticism, Spear relies just as much on preparation — studying game film in his free time feeds his football IQ — to get the job done under the Friday night lights.
Look for Spear to be a key cog in the Golden Lions’ playoff run.
