Senior forward Amber Brown led the way with 16 points and 11 rebounds, and junior point guard Marquita Daniels added 13 points and five of the Lady Warriors’ 19 steals.
Freshman Keimeshia Walker scored 11 points and senior center Alexis Carter had nine points and six steals.
As a result of SACA’s full-court pressure and half-court traps, the Lady Warriors scored the game’s first nine points and led 24-2 at the end of the first quarter. Daniels did most of her damage in the frame with 11 quick points and Brown followed by notching half of her total in the period.
“I thought in the first half we did pretty good,” SACA girls’ coach Jackie Cowan said. “In the second half we got a little laxed and weren't as focused but for it to be the first game of the season -- just to kind of get the jitters out and incorporate the newer players in -- I thought we did okay. I give us a C. We will take the win but we got a lot of work to do.”
SACA will meet North Clayton in tournament action at Morrow on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
Unfortunately for the Warriors, their outcome wasn’t as pleasant. Stockbridge raced out to a 25-9 advantage in the first quarter and never looked back in a 76-50 final.
Junior Darian Bell led SACA with 21 points, including three 3-pointers, and Micaiah Henry scored 13 points but the Tigers’ length and athleticism were too much for the Warriors to overcome.
SACA will try to bounce back Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. against Dutchtown at Morrow.
