In a news release Wednesday, Legoland Discovery Center Atlanta, located at Phipps Plaza in Buckhead, along with the seven other locations worldwide, on Guinness World Record Day Nov. 15, set the Guinness World Record for the largest toy construction lesson.

There were a total of 287 participants worldwide who successfully built a Lego Christmas train at the same time on the same day.

In addition to Atlanta, the record took place in America's Chicago, Dallas and Kansas City; Germany's Berlin and Duisberg; England’s Manchester (one lesson in Trafford Centre and the other in the attraction) and Legoland Windsor Resort Hotel and Tokyo in order to offer 10 lessons simultaneously. Legoland Discovery Center Atlanta began promptly at 7 a.m. and lasted about one hour. There were 33 children ages 4 to 13 who actively participated in this lesson.

“We were thrilled to see everyone come together to Legoland Discovery Center to be a part of setting the Guinness World Record,” said Joshua Bohn, Legoland Discovery Center Atlanta’s master model builder. “Though it was an early morning, the children were all so excited, and the parents were very supportive. I hope this was a memorable experience for all of them because we could not have set the Guinness World Record without them!”

In addition to family and friends, the Atlanta Dream women’s basketball team showed its support for Legoland Discovery Center and Lego fans. WNBA team members Armintie Price and Lindsey Harding participated as the official timekeepers during the build.
