Tied with seconds to play against Lassiter, Fellowship Christian junior Roger Rickman came off a screen at the top of the key, made a move on his defender and pulled up for a game-winning shot from 15-feet away.

His shot was pure; the ball found the bottom of the net and the Paladins pulled off one of the biggest upsets in the state this season.

“It’s arguably the biggest win we’ve had in any sport since moving to the GHSA six years ago,” said Fellowship basketball coach Mark Rickman. “It has given our players a lot of confidence that I feel will spill over into a number of other games.”

Rickman’s final bucket came with four seconds on the clock and gave Fellowship a 46-44 win over the Class-AAAAA East Cobb school. The shot gave the junior point guard a game-high 21 points on the night and pushed the Paladins to a solid 3-1 record through the month of November.

Much of that strong start has been because of Rickman’s play from the point, doing a little bit of everything for the Paladins so far this season.

“This is his third year as the starting point guard and he basically runs our team,” said the FCS coach. “He does a good job of getting everyone involved and is very unselfish.”

In four games Rickman is shooting 68 percent from the field while averaging 15.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 3 assists.
