All signs point to Luella’s Sade Jacobs evolving into a force to be reckoned with.

The 5 foot 9 freshman guard gave the Lady Lions faithful a glimpse into her potential with a 18-point, six-rebound night against Rockdale County to start the season.

“She’s just a freshman — the sky’s the limit for her right now,” said Luella coach Michelle Smith. “She’s just a raw talent.”

“She’s naturally strong … we post her a little bit, but she can take the ball off the boards, get it and go.”

Perhaps the finest quality a promising young player can possess is a strong work ethic. Jacobs is no exception.

“She works hard all around — she’s one of those scrappy kids,” Smith said. “She’s a hard worker and she’s very coachable.”

The Lady Lions fan base might as well get used to the sight of Jacobs putting her athleticism on full display — snatching rebounds from opposing players and dribbling coast to coast for transition bucket after transition bucket. Other times, look for her to punish defenders down low.

The scary part — for opponents, that is — Jacobs is just getting started.
