Fulton County Schools not selected for Race to the Top funds

Fulton County Schools, one of four Georgia school districts that were finalists for the federal Race to the Top funds, was not one of the 16 winners selected by the U.S. Department of Education, the department announced in a news release on its website Tuesday.

The Fulton, Haralson County, Morgan County Charter and Rockdale County school systems were among the 61 finalists who filed grant applications for the funds. The finalists were announced Nov. 26.

In the South, school systems and consortiums in Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina were among the winners.
