From now until Monday, those who give to LifeLine Animal Project, a nonprofit animal charity that serves DeKalb County, will have their donations doubled.

Atlanta-based Anisa International, a cosmetic brush design and manufacturing company, has pledged to match up to $25,000 in donations to LifeLine through the end of the year.

“We’re thrilled,” said Rebecca Guinn, founder and CEO of LifeLine Animal Project, which aids homeless pets and struggling pet owners. “I’m really blown away by the generosity of this company.”

Anisa International is a long-time supporter of LifeLine and has donated to the organization throughout the past decade.

“Part of our monthly budget allots for giving back, and LifeLine has been part of that for 10 years now,” said Anisa Telwar, president and founder of the company.

She said offering to match the donations serves as a challenge to see how the community will respond to a worthy cause.

The money raised through the challenge grant will go towards providing low-cost spay and neuter surgeries for animals, offering discounted veterinary services to pets in financially struggling households, and promoting the adoption of homeless pets.

“While things are getting better in the economy overall, this has been a really difficult time for a lot of people and it’s been really hard on the animals as well,” Guinn said. “At a time where donations are harder to come by, the need for our services are even greater. So we depend on these donations to be able to serve the animals and also the people who love them.”

LifeLine Animal Project operates a low-cost spay and neuter clinic in Avondale Estates. The nonprofit also works closely with DeKalb County Animal Control and the DeKalb County Animal Shelter, Guinn said. She added LifeLine’s no-kill shelter in Avondale Estates takes in animals from the county’s animal control department but does not take in pets from the general public.

Telwar said the nonprofit’s work is essential to the community.

“A lot of [LifeLine’s] programs have to be subsidized and that’s why we’re doing what we’re doing right now, so we can care for the animals,” she said.
