Possible mix of rain, snow expected today

According to its website, the National Weather Service in Peachtree City is calling for more rain Thursday night in metro Atlanta, including Buckhead, Sandy Springs and Vinings, with a possible mix of snow and rain before 7 p.m.

The service is also predicting westerly winds of 10 to 15 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph. today, with a high near 51. The chance of rain is 100 percent, with “new precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible,” the website’s forecast states

 As for Thursday night, the service expects little or no snow accumulation and a 60 percent chance of precipitation. Winds are expected to be 10 to 20 mph, with gusts of up to 30 mph.

Friday, the rain is expected to move out of the area, with the forecast calling for sunny skies and a high near 52, with a northerly wind around 5 mph.

Metro Atlanta, including the local area, has seen rainfall every day since Sunday.
