“We are currently seeking land to build a new elementary school in Roswell. The school will serve as a swing school for our rebuild of Esther Jackson Elementary,” said Fulton County School Board President and District 1 Representative Linda Schultz.
“In other words, we will build the new elementary, and move the Esther Jackson students into it. They will stay at the new school while Esther Jackson is being rebuilt onsite”
Afterwards, Schultz said, students will return to Esther Jackson, and the new school will be used to relieve overcrowding in other Roswell elementary schools.
The opening of the new school is scheduled for either mid-year 2014 or fall 2015. Schultz said the rebuild of Esther Jackson is scheduled to be completed in fall 2016.
“These elementary school projects are part of the SPLOST IV construction program, so the need has been identified for several years,” the board president said.
There is no official word on where in Roswell the school board is looking.
“I cannot discuss any details of our land searches until a purchase has been finalized,” Schultz said.
