The Paulding County School District was set to host a “Signing Day Spectacular” today for the county's football players looking to take their talents to the next level.

Four high schools were to bring their signees to one central location — Stars and Strikes at the corner of highways 92 and 120 in Dallas — and celebrate them together in front of family and friends.

According to County Athletic Director Don Breedlove, a large green screen will be used to display highlight reels of each player.

“It’s going to be a big thing,” said Breedlove.

For this event, there were expected to be around 15 signees.

As of Friday last week, East Paulding was set to have eight players sign while South Paulding expected two, Paulding County High expected one to three and North Paulding expected one.

The list of players includes fullback and linebacker Josh Anderson of South; defensive lineman Ron Bailey of North; defensive lineman Carnell Hopson of South; and tight end Aaron Black, outside linebacker Romaine Gooden, center Carson Hall, running back Kyler Neal, outside linebacker Lorenz Suttles and running back Kamani Thomas, all of East, just to name a few.

Anderson is expected to sign with Troy University in Troy, Ala. Bailey is expected to sign with Lenoir-Rhyne in Hickory, N.C.; and Black is expected to sign with Furman University in Greenville, S.C.

In addition, Gooden is expected to sign with Mercer University in Macon; Hall is expected to sign with Mars Hill College in Mars Hill, N.C., and Hopson and Neal are expected to sign with Georgia State University in Atlanta.

Suttles is expected to sign with North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, N.C., and Thomas is expected to sign with Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

While these are the expected signings, the only one that has been made public at this point is Thomas’ commitment.

The story was posted on Scout.com as well as GAsports.com on Jan. 13 that Thomas made a verbal commitment to Middle Tennessee, after narrowing down his options to just two.

With all the information coming from last week, there’s no for sure way to say who will sign where as Breedlove said “nothing is official until [today].”
